Feedback received from the 2011 edition of the summer school Frontiers in Neurophotonics

A whirlwind program covering the most cutting-edge neuro-imaging techniques out there today. Excellent hands-on labs coupled with fantastic lectures from the best in the field. Every minute was a worthwhile experience. A great opportunity for anyone in neurophotonics or related research.

To participate in Frontiers in Neurophotonics 2011 was an excellent opportunity for me to increase my knowledge in the field, submerged in a different scientific environment from the one I am used to in my current thesis research. The lectures given by renowned specialists in the field, which are all very talkative and approachable, were completed by demos of innovating techniques and approaches that, even if I was already acquainted with them, were always presented in a somewhat different and interesting perspective.

The students supervising those demos are using those techniques on a daily basis and are easing things up a lot for the summer school participants. In addition, I would also recommend this training for the very friendly ambiance, the flawless organization, and simply the beauty of Quebec city and surroundings.

"Being a newcomer in the field of imaging, this training was viewed as a necessity. The way it proceeded as well as the general atmosphere were such that I now consider it as a milestone in my personal and scientific development. The way the summer school unfolds is not only intense in its schedule and contents, but is also very well structured. Indeed, this training offers a great variety of subjects, of Internationally renowned invited speakers as well as many occasions to apply in practice the newly acquired knowledge. It is thus a unique opportunity for graduate students of all levels and from different academic backgrounds to perfect their theoretical and experimental knowledge using techniques in neurophotonics.

Besides the scientific aspects, the Frontiers in Neurophotonics summer school is also in a class by itself for its people. The organizing committee, the invited speakers, the tutors in charge of the experiments and also the students involved in the training program were all characterized by their kindness, their incredible thirst for discussions, their unfailing availability, their destabilizing devotion and a truly contagious passion! Briefly put, an out of this world training and experience that doubles as being highly enriching. I recommend this high quality training to everyone!

Feedback received from the 2010 edition of the summer school Frontiers in Neurophotonics

The neurophotonics summer course is one of the best courses that I have attended throughout my studies, and they are relatively a lot. The course was highly organized and well instructed. The talks were amazingly knowledgeable and enjoyable.

The speakers were friendly and communicative. The organizers were always around and strongly involved in all the practics, which allowed us as students to get any information we needed any time. As for the instructors including teachers, postdocs and students who demonstrated and guided us through the practics, they were highly qualified to address the basics and uses of the methods covered by the course, they were attentive and capable of answering our questions. They did more then enough to provide us as much as possible, with all the reagents, instruments and time to carry out experiments that we designed.

Taking all together, this course was an amazing and unforgettable experience both scientifically and socially. The environment was delightful, easy and the food was great. Besides the city is beautiful.

Attending Frontiers in Neurophotonics 2010 was a wonderful experience. The lectures were all very informative and accessible to students with different research backgrounds. The professors and current students at CRULRG were remarkably approachable and generous with their time. The hands-on component of the class was a perfect complement to the lectures; each technique-driven demo was led by current students at CRULRG who were experts with that approach, making it easy to learn about the equipment required and considerations necessary for that technique.

The unique opportunity to interact with so many scientists employing these techniques in their own labs made this program extremely educational and worthwhile. A fantastic experience for which I am very grateful!

The number of the students is not so big, and there are some parties and sports activities, so we had no difficulty in knowing each other. It is exciting to imagine that we will meet in some conferences and find that we've got ahead as scientists in the world.
