The Frontiers in Neurophotonics Summer School is a unique opportunity for a small class of highly motivated students to spend 10 days learning and working hands-on with the highly qualified personnel of the Neurophotonics Centre in Québec city.
During this very intense workshop, students hear lectures from world experts in neuroscience and optics, and use state-of-the-art equipment to investigate the brain and nervous system.
After the Summer School, students return to their home laboratories with novel ideas and approaches that can be applied to their own research projects.
In the last days of the Summer school, students get to choose a short project to accomplish with the help of the experts at the Centre, and they present the results of their projects at the end of the school.
The top three project presentations for the 2015 Edition of the Summer School were:
3rd place winners: Erin Diel, Ryan Alexander, and Susanne Reichinnek, with Professor Paul De Koninck, left, and Coordinator Mario Méthot, right.
Project: Two-photon Ca2+ imaging in small cellular compartments.
Tutors: Lisa Topolnik, Olivier Camiré, Xiao Luo
2nd place winners: Benoît Audet, Pablo Lituma, Aaron Bowen, and Veronika Bednarova.
Project: In-vivo imaging in the tadpole.
Tutors: Ed Ruthazer, Phil Kesner, Kelly Sakaki
1st place winners: Maria-Carmen Medrano, Raghu Ram Katreddi, and Lindsey-Marie Snyder.
Project: In-vivo Ca2+ imaging in the DRG. Tutors: Érik Bélanger and Feng Wang.
Congratulations to all our 2015 students for their participation and many thanks for your enthusiasm! We wish you all the best for your future research endeavours!
