Neurophysics program – How to Apply

experiment

Setting New Frontiers in Neuroscience – Inventing the Techniques of the Future

The Neurophysics group is currently seeking outstanding graduate students and post-doctoral fellows for its CIHR Strategic Training Program. Applications are open to international and Canadian citizens from the following educational backgrounds: physics, optics and photonics, computational science, chemistry, neuroscience, material science, or related fields.

Current projects include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing novel fiber-based microprobes for cellular studies
  • Light-tissue interactions using nonlinear optics
  • Design of novel nanoparticles for molecular tracking in live cells
  • Development of novel microscopy systems

Application process

Applicants must provide the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • A short letter describing why you decided to apply to the program and your career goals
  • Official transcripts of previous colleges or universities attended (to be mailed to the address below)
  • Two letters of recommendation (to be mailed directly to the address below)

The letter of intent and curriculum vitae can be submitted by email (see contact below).

A panel of professors and representatives of each institution (McGill, COPL and IUSMQ) will meet in April following the deadline.  The selected applicants will be contacted and eventually invited to meet the selection committee.

We look forward to receiving your applications.

Fellowships

Fellowships are available to graduate students (Master and PhD levels) or post-doctoral fellows joining the Neurophysics research groups. The best applications typically receive a fellowship from one of the Neurophysics grants funded by CIHR. However, since this number is limited every year, students are strongly encouraged to apply for grants available in the fields of Physics, Health, Neuroscience and others.
