The Photonics technology facility specializes in the development and integration of novel optical devices to study the brain and nervous system. Technologies developed in this facility include:

  • Novel microscopes
  • Fiber optics technologies
  • Viral vector tools

In addition to developing approaches based on the most cutting-edge technologies, many of the technologies developped are designed to be easy to translate and robust, for example technologies that can be retrofitted to existing imaging systems. 

Researchers of the Photonics technology facility have ongoing collaborations with researchers in mechanical engineering at Université Laval, and have ready access to expertise and equipement in fibers, optics and other materials.

Platform overview

The Neurophotonics platform is composed of three core production facilities that produce novel tools in a collaborative way. Development and optimisation is further enabled through testing and validation of the tools by Centres of excellence across Canada. Learn more about each node by clicking on it.
