University of Ottawa

Key researcher: André Longtin, Ph.D.
The University of Ottawa houses the Center for Neural Dynamics, which has expertise in the analysis of activity patterns in neuron populations in space and time, and in the management of large data sets generated by optogenetic approaches, which include image analysis and data recordings. The Ottawa node will work with the McGill and IUSMQ nodes for the development and sharing of image and data processing tools necessary to quantification of results.
Dr André Longtin is interested in theoretical and computational modeling and has an interest in developing models that can be tested to address deep questions in neuroscience.  Modeling will serve to define testable hypotheses and ways to validate them.
The Ottawa node will play a crucial role in the analysis of the large amounts of data generated by optogenetic experiments.
